From A Course In Miracles (Lesson 317, Workbook): I have a special place to fill; a role for me alone.

How often do we stop ourselves from doing what we really love what we feel called to do because we see other people with what looks like success or huge recognition or anything else that takes us out of alignment with God?
Think about this. If the God of our understanding could create the trees, the flowers, the oceans, the miracle of birth, and everything that you see around you, why is it that we don’t think God wouldn’t use our passions and our talents to help others? And what does success mean anyway?

I was thinking about my home this morning. We have lived here for two years and it is beautiful and I’m surrounded by woods. I was laughing with myself because I realized it’s not the largest home in the area, I drive by large homes every day to pick up my daughter from school. But I feel tremendous abundance in this home. It is a house of peace, love and joy. I don’t compare this house to what others have because I am so grateful and truly love this place. Abundance is truly a matter of perception. So is success.

I feel incredibly abundant living here and I feel that way every single day. So what is considered “success“ is really perception. Now we can live through the perception of God or we can live through the perception of what we think others think success looks like. What does God think success is? Serving others.

Additionally, it occurred to me that I have just as much to say as anyone else, I’ve lived a life I’ve and have been through a lot – the struggles, which are lessons – the successes, the heartbreaks, the betrayals, Etc.

So it occurred to me that I don’t need to feel a jealousy of others because I see somebody else doing well. Through my OWN experience strength and hope;  my story is mine to share. We all have our unique voice and something to say that might help somebody else.

In knowing that everything is about the perception, feeling envy is putting an idol before you. The sun doesn’t shine brighter on anyone than it does on you — as if there’s only so much success, joy or love to go around.

Embrace what is unique about you! Share your gifts—the world need your voice!
